Fort Wright, KY (August 14, 2025) – As standard policy and procedure related to all road replacement or resurfacing projects, the City of Fort Wright collaborates and coordinates with all local utility companies on all upcoming and future road re-construction projects. This provides an opportunity for us to partner with the various Utility Companies who then evaluate their infrastructure in these areas so that they can perform any necessary repairs and/or upgrades to their infrastructure prior to the roadway’s completion. This process yields a long term cost savings to our tax payers. As a result of this effort, the Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD) replaced the water mains on General Drive and Pickett Drive in advance of the start of our 2025 Street Resurfacing Project. Earlier this year Duke Energy also replaced several gas services in the area as well.
Rector Excavating was awarded the bid by NKWD and replaced the main on General Drive and Pickett Drive. All final service tie-ins and connections have been made.
In February 2025, the City of Fort Wright awarded the bid for road resurfacing to Riegler Blacktop, and General Drive, Pickett Drive, Pickett Court, and George Huser Drive will be milled and repaved this year.
The contract price for the 2025 project is $649,342.25. This cost includes milling and paving, as well as, all necessary concrete repairs. Riegler Blacktop is almost finished replacing areas of concrete sidewalk and spot curb repairs and will perform roadway milling before the final surface is installed.
We anticipate milling and paving to take place in September. As with any construction project, the timeline is subject to change due to weather and/or material availability which from time to time impedes progress. Overall, we anticipate substantial project completion by the end of October, 2025.
Please remember to exercise caution when driving, walking, and/or bicycling in all construction zones for the safety of our staff, our contractors, and the protection of your own life and property.
